Sighthound Breeders Club brings together lovers of the most elegant dog breeds in the Czech Republic. Since 1926 we have been caring for breeding, shows and sporting activities of sighthounds.
Tradition Since 1926
Sighthound Breeders Club was founded in 1926 under the name "Club for Sighthound Breeding and Racing Sport". From its very beginning it focused on systematic breeding of sighthound breeds and development of racing sport in Czechoslovakia.
The first races were held in 1927 with the participation of breeds Borzoi, Greyhound and Whippet. These races laid the foundations of a tradition that continues to this day.
The club's activities were disrupted by World War II, but the club was reconstituted in 1951 and since then has continuously operated as the main sighthound association in the Czech Republic.
In 2001 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary of the resumption of activities, which was accompanied by a series of ceremonial events and shows.
Today the Sighthound Breeders Club is a respected organization, member of ČMKU and FCI, which oversees breeding of 14 sighthound breeds, organizes shows, races, coursing and evaluations throughout the Czech Republic.
